宇宙版『Space Oddity』の歌詞

話題の宇宙飛行士版『Space Oddity』は、オリジナルの悲しい歌詞を少し変えている。

以下、カナダ人宇宙飛行士クリス・ハドフィールド版の歌詞。

宇宙船ソユーズのハッチを閉め、地球に帰還するときの心を歌っているようだ。

Ground control to major Tom

Lock your Soyuz hatch and put your helmet on　（元　Take your protein pills and put your helmet on）

ソユーズのハッチをロックし、ヘルメットを装着せよ（ソユーズはロシアの宇宙船で、地球に帰還する際に使われる。ハドフィールドはISSコマンダーとして5ヶ月間の任務を終えて帰還しようとしていた）

(Ten) Ground control (Nine) to major Tom (Eight)

(Seven, six) Commencing countdown (Five), engines on (Four)

カウントダウン開始　エンジン始動

Detach from Station and may gods (Blastoff) love be with you 　(元　Check ignition (One) and may gods (Blastoff) love be with you）

ステーションから分離せよ　神の愛は君とともにある

This is ground control to major Tom, you’ve really made the grade

こちら地上管制。君は見事に目標を達成した

And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear

新聞社が君の来ているシャツについて知りたいそうだ

But it’s time to guide the capsule if you dare　（元Now it’s time to leave the capsule if you dare）

さあ、準備ができたら（挑めるなら）カプセルを導く時間だ

This is major Tom to ground control, I’ve left forevermore  (元　I’m stepping through the door）

こちらトムから地上管制へ。私は未来永劫、ここを離れた。

And I’m floating in a most peculiar way

すごく妙な感じで浮かんでいる

And the stars look very different today

For here am I sitting in a tin can far above the world

僕は世界のはるか上のブリキ缶に座っている
